What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a procedure which removes hair from the body utilizing a long pulse laser. 1Laser heat disables follicles from producing hair. Hair grows in cycles. Since various hairs will enter their growth cycle at different times, about 6-8 treatments at intervals of 8-12 weeks are necessary to disable most of the follicles in a given area.
Am I a candidate for laser hair removal?
Both men and women seek laser hair removal to remove unwanted hair. Hair removal is commonly done on underarm, pubic area, legs, abdomen, lip, chin, back, buttocks, thighs, face, neck, chest, arms, and toes. Laser technology works by targeting dark pigment. Therefore, it works best on pale skin and dark coarse hair. The lighter the skin and the darker and more coarse the hair, the better are the results. The best candidates are patients treating areas with dark coarse dense hair growth.
How many laser treatments will I need and how far apart are they scheduled?
Most patients need at least 8-10 effective treatments spaced for face 4 weeks apart and body 4-6 weeks apart initially. Because hair grows in cycles, several sessions are necessary in order to affect all hair on any given area. Due to length of hair growth cycles, treatments are usually needed once every 4-6 weeks apart. Hair cycle length varies depending on body part. Face usually requires more frequent treatments (about 4 weeks apart) whereas other body areas need less frequent treatment (closer to 6 weeks apart). As you progress with treatments your therapist will discuss with you and increase the length of the treatment space gradually from 6 weeks to 3 months to maybe a year, moving you to a maintenance programme.
Is laser hair removal permenant? Are there permenant hair removal methods?
Laser hair removal lasers have been in use since 1997. They disable hair permanently as long as the right type of hair is treated with an appropriate type of laser at effective settings. However, it is called a “reduction” because, no matter what some clinics may claim, hair removal lasers cannot and do not remove 100% of the hair in an area. With proper treatments, laser can remove the majority of the coarse hair on a body area, but they cannot remove finer hair
Is laser hair removal painful?
In one pulse, laser removes all the hair on a patch of skin the size of a 20c coin. Generally, laser hair removal is not much more painful than waxing, though the sensation is different. With each pulse, the feeling resembles a rubber band snapping against the skin for a quick second. Pain is only felt while laser is hitting the skin and doesn’t last.
The truth about intense pulsed light and laser epilation
Both systems are circulating on the same energies— heat and light.Utilizing the energy of intense light, the heat emitted by such targets the hair follicle that will cause damage, hence reducing hair growth. As seen from the photo below, laser treatment uses a stronger level in treatments, as well as higher temperature to achieve optimum results. IPL treatment, on the other hand, utilizes a slightly lower temperature compared to the laser treatment.
How does Sunspots & Freckle Removal work?
Photo-thermal energy delivered by the handpiece will gently heat up the upper layers of your skin and target the melanin pigment responsible for the colour of freckles and sun/age spots.
The light absorbed by the pigmented lesion is converted into heat destroying excess melanocytes. The freckles and sunspots will darken in colour, most times twice as dark as the original colour then it will exfoliate off the skin naturally within 7-10 days.
The pigmented spots are faded blending the skin’s natural colors and making it more even.
Heat absorbed by the targeted areas will also stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen helping restore your skin to its natural appearance and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking.
Who is suitable for the treatment?
Anyone who suffers from sunspots/age spots/freckles regardless of body area.
The sunspot freckles need to be darker than the skin colour.
The treatment is better in high contrast situations.
Who is not suitable for the treatment?
We cannot treat anyone with very dark skin as the light may mistake the pigment in the skin and cause adverse reactions. If we think your skin is too dark to be treated we will recommend alternative treatments such as skin peels and topical treatments.
The following contraindications also apply:
Sun tan/use of sunbeds and fake tan
Healing disorders such as those caused by Diabetes Mellitus and lupus
History of Keloid scarring
Recent use of Roacutane
Immune, lymphatic system disorders
The treatment is better in high contrast situations.
How Does Plasma Skin Tightening Treatment Work?
Plasma skin tightening (fibroblast skin tightening) works by controlled damage to contract skin fibres providing and instant lifting. The skin fibroblasts generate new collagen leading to skin tightening and rejuvenation
How Does Sublimation Cause Skin Tightening & Lifting Effect?
The plasma treatment involves applying multiple small dots of sublimation in specific pattern. The instant contraction of skin tissue is not the final result, but as described above fibroblast skin cell action then works to create a long lasting lift. For very early sagging or wrinkles one treatment may be all that is required, but for more advanced and depending on the result you want multiple treatments may be applied to the one area.
What is the Downtime/Recovery Time of Plasma Skin Tightening Treatment?
One of the major advantages of FIBROBLAST is that it offers a much less invasive/expensive alternative to surgery as well as the time it takes to carry out. This does not mean there is no downtime, but by comparison it is minimal. You may experience some swelling in the area treated, particularly in the eye area, this diminishes over a 2-5 day period. The tiny plasma flash causes ‘crusts’ to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect. These on average are gone between 5-7 days. They may also be covered with mineral powder to reduce their visibility. These are cosmetic issues only, technically there is no real downtime if these visual effects are of no concern to you.
Does Plasma Skin Tightening Treatment Hurt?
Fibroblast is a non-surgical treatment, but some sensation will be experienced. Patients report mild discomfort during and after treatment. Topical cream is applied to numb the area to be treated approximately 30 prior to procedure.
What is Intraceuticals?
Intraceuticals is a skin care brand dedicated to the professional market and is available worldwide in medical and dermatological clinics. After years of research, biochemistry Intraceuticals team has combined the medical and cosmetic science to create a unique skincare brand.
Based on the fact that the therapeutic hyperbaric oxygen at high pressure can be used in the world of cosmetics, Intraceuticals developed a serum which, when associated with oxygen, swells immediately and hydrates the skin surface to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Intraceuticals has also developed a range of skin treatments.
The process consists in using hyperbaric oxygen to penetrate the skin, in order to stimulate the hyaluronic acid production, and a serum filled with essential vitamins, antioxidants and amino peptides. Used with pure oxygen at 98%, it ensures the penetration of active ingredients in depth. Conceived to improve all skin types, the oxygen infusion restores hydration, strengthens the epidermis and reduces wrinkles in just 40 minutes. This technique is not only suitable for all special events such as weddings, but it can also be combined with many other treatments such as peeling, laser or microdermabrasion for long lasting results. The process is non-invasive, extremely relaxing, painless and safe.
